Google docsmania
From reading other blogs I understood that Google docs might have a huge success with language teachers. And it's no wonder since the practical uses for submitting texts, correcting and saving in one place are obvious. I would just add that I like the fact that presentations and spreadsheets can allow the whole class to collaborate on the same document. Two of my grade 5 students made their PowerPoint presentations recently and came up with fairly interesting final products. However, since they were talking about the same subject some repetitions were inevitable. With Google docs in mind, I can imagine them now doing one joined presentation and even collaborating with me and the rest of the group. This, in combination with Google Chat (for vocabulary clarifications and such) might be a very engaging activity in language class.

Go for it. I think the students would definitely grow with it too. Collaboration embodies a lot of our PYP objectives - well IB actually :) There is actually a side panel within Presentations that allows students to discuss the project at the same time. These discussions are added to a history in the presentation so students can source them again if needed. Have fun.
ОдговориИзбришиI love this idea. I think I'll try it out with my Spanish students next year. Now that I think about it, we can put them in groups of 3 or 4 and each student could have a job to do with the presentation. They could each have their own slides to do, but also the responsibility to provide feedback and "proofread" their friends' slides. Self-correcting and having peers correct your work and explain why the correction was necessary, in their own words, is sometimes better received than when it comes from a teacher. I think they'd love it.
